Oh Dream of mine, you're within my reach
a youthful reverie of bliss - let her slip away
I grasp through vapour as your form disintegrates
my inhibition breeds despair and I shy away

I shy away and into pain, disguised
hiding from the one that I despise

All I wanted for, insatiable desire
a vessel filled up to the brim - let it slip away
the world is fading as it crumbles to my feet
an overstimulated mind meant to be deprived of you

There is no need to blame yourself, I tried
in vain to bring to life any part of me
that I could find inside

It took all breath right out of my lungs
to fan the embers of my youth into a constant smouldering glow
rekindling what remained of my enduring hope
the flames erupt casting our shadows dancing on the wall

I've scrubbed away all of my past, [and lived]
except for this resistant neural residue
that to this day and to my surprise still holds
a pale and silver clear portrait of you
